Add to Your Home Screen

Plate Pursuit works as a native app on your phone: no App Store required. Just follow the steps for your device below.

iPhone & iPad Safari

    Open platepursuit.ch in Safari Make sure you're using Safari: it won't work from Chrome or other browsers on iOS.

    Tap the Share button It's the icon at the bottom of the screen that looks like a box with an arrow pointing up.

    Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen" You'll see a preview of the app icon and name.

    Tap "Add" in the top right The Plate Pursuit icon will appear on your home screen. Open it like any other app: no browser bar, no clutter.

Android Chrome

    Open platepursuit.ch in Chrome Chrome is recommended for the best experience on Android.

    Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right This opens Chrome's main menu.

    Tap "Add to Home screen" You may also see a banner at the bottom of the screen prompting you automatically: just tap "Install".

    Confirm by tapping "Add" The icon will be placed on your home screen and app drawer. It opens in full-screen with no browser chrome.

Desktop Chrome / Edge

    Open platepursuit.ch in Chrome or Edge

    Click the install icon in the address bar Look for a small computer icon (⊕) on the right side of the address bar. In Edge, it looks like a plus sign in a box.

    Click "Install" Plate Pursuit opens as a standalone window without browser controls, just like a desktop app.

Your data stays yours

  • Plate Pursuit is a web app: it's not installed natively on your phone and has no access to your device beyond a browser shortcut on your home screen.
  • You choose which photo to submit. The OCR only reads the number plate text: nothing else in the image is processed or retained.
  • No location data. No contacts. No camera roll access. No background tracking of any kind.
  • The only thing stored is the plate number you scan, your score, and your account email.
